Wildflower Meadow - SOLD

Wildflower Meadow
acrylic on canvas
24"x18"
SOLD

This was a really fun painting to do. I didn't do any detailed brushwork and really thickened the paint up with some acrylic gels.

My acrylic brand of choice (Winsor & Newton) has apparently been discontinued by my closest art supply store, and the other nearby stores don't sell it. I think I might have to start ordering paint in bulk anyway, since I go through a ton of it for these impasto paintings. I use almost an entire container of acrylic gel medium for each piece.

Flowers...are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world.

Poppies & Lupine - SOLD

Poppies & Lupine
acrylic on canvas
7"x5"
SOLD

I decided to do a small painting as a break from a larger painting that I've been working on. I'd like to get in the habit of partaking in the "daily painting" movement, so hopefully I'll be producing more of these little pieces.

I provided a photo of the side of the canvas to show the yellow base coat that shows through (as well as how thick the paint is). I liked the rough edges on the side & decided to keep them as is.

I love dandelions - they're so bright and cheerful and have a bad rap as weeds.

I love wild roses - they are my favorite flower and have such a wonderful scent. My mother always loved them too, and they just naturally sprang up all over our yard with the native flowers & seeds my mother planted.

New Beginnings - SOLD

New Beginnings
acrylic on canvas board
9"x12"
SOLD

This painting is based on a photo I took of the lavender in my garden last summer, having just moved into a new house and inherited a lovely little herb garden. It seems that growing amidst all the dense lavender blooms are what I think may be some Korean Mint blossoms; I really love the image of them hidden among all the lavender.
